Amani for Africa USA Foundation
The purpose of Amani for Africa USA Foundation (“Amani”) is to fund charitable, educational, religious and developmental activities in Africa. During 2006, Amani pursued this purpose by obtaining donations from individuals, churches and foundations and distributing funds to support the following activities in Makang’wa, Tanzania and surrounding communities:
-
Purchase and distribute food to needy individuals suffering from the effects of drought, famine and natural disasters.
-
Construction of educational facilities to demonstrate more effective agricultural techniques, encourage “self help” in growing food products and grow food products for distribution.
-
Support disadvantaged children to attend local schools.
-
Provide books, computers and other materials to local schools.
-
Develop water wells and irrigation systems to reduce the impact of drought conditions and foster crop yields.
-
Assist in rebuilding local churches and schools damaged by severe weather conditions.
-
In word and action proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Central Africa.
The 2006 expenditures were distributed as grants to Amani Development Organization (formerly “The Amani Development Trust Fund”), an approved Non-Governmental Organization registered with the government of Tanzania.
The Amani Development Organization is a community-related and Christ-centered ministry in central Tanzania.
The ministry includes - Water Resources, Agricultural/Horticultural Development, Education, Social and Spiritual Development, Health and Nutrition.
Activities are community centered with the goal of developing healthy communities that are closely involved in planning and operation.
The immediate aim is establishing basic sustainability. The long term aim is to develop a continuing capacity for expansion of operations within Tanzania.
